Pad Thai with Shrimp
Lantern
Lantern is a Thai restaurant in downtown Brooklyn with a decent lunch special, mostly catering to workers near to Borough Hall. The pad thai is decidedly average. The rice noodles are well prepared with a good texture and the dish is appropriately saucy. It came with 4 shrimp, which feels like enough for lunch but also not enough for a pad Thai. The sauce is a bit unbalanced and underseasoned. A bit too sweet for my tastes. It could probably use more fish sauce and salt, and could be improved with a lime wedge on the side to adjust (the tamarind could have been more pronounced but it was likely that some other hit of acid could help more). Mostly an unmemorable but passable lunch special. Came with an appetizer (chicken and shrimp fritters with a sweet chili sauce). Would return for a lunch at work. Would not go out of my way.
