Crossing the Bridge Noodles

7/10 $30 after tip53 Bayard St, New YorkMay 2, 2026 Rice Noodle

Crossing the bridge noodles, I feel, are not common enough in NYC, for how tasty they are. Generally relatively light, with the sorts of flavors you might expect in southeast Asian cuisine (which makes sense since Yunnan borders Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam). I've had Yunnan Rice Noodle House a few times, and this is the first time I got the pork and fish balls, and the curry and coconut broth. You're given a bunch of ingredients that you add yourself to the bowl of broth, which here is in a boiling hot clay or stone bowl, so it stays very hot. The curry coconut broth is pretty subtle; it is good, but I think the other broths (especially the original) are a bit better. The pork and fish balls leave a lot to be desired. I've had much better ones, so I'd add a different meat. When you add the noodles they slowly will become softer, which is fine, but rice noodles are already soft, so by the end they're less chewy that I'd like. Still, a very solid noodle stop.

Ordered with pan fried dumplings.
